Summer Theatre Camp & Auditions

Sunnyside's Summer Theatre Program is for students ages 6-19. 

In the mornings the kids will learn:

• Improv
• Theatre technique and character development
• Ballet and basic movement
• Stage make-up
• Prop handling
• Audition skills
• Developing a monologue

Kids will need to bring water, bag lunch and comfortable clothes.  

The afternoon is dedicated to rehearsals. Six performances will be held the final week.

COSTS

Students can attend classes in the morning and rehearsals in the afternoons, or choose afternoon rehearsals only.

• Full days 9am-4pm are $900 and include classes in the morning and rehearsals in the afternoon.
• Half days 1pm-4pm are $700 and inlcude afternoon rehearsals only. There is a $20 additional daily fee for drop-in classes.

Costs include non-refundable $200 deposit applied toward tuition, due by audition day. Remaining costs are due by 1st day of class/rehearsal. 

SCHEDULE & LOCATION

Camp is July 5-August 5 from 9 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday at First United Methodist Church, 1600 Bancroft Ave., San Leandro (production not associated with the church). Tech Week is August 8-10 (full day) and performances are August 11-14. Both Tech Week and performances are held at San Leandro High School Performing Arts Center. 

AUDITIONS 

Auditions are held Wednesday, May 18. Sign-up for vocal audition slots here. Slots for vocal auditions are available by sign-up from 6pm-7:30pm. Dance auditions, readings, and call backs are from 7:30pm-9pm. Everyone auditioning is required to stay until dance auditions are over. The cast list is posted a week or two after auditions.
